Title I

Purpose 

• • To ensure that all children have a fair, equitable, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach proficiency on challenging state academic standards.

  • To close the educational achievement gaps between high- and low-performing children.

Eligibility

• Our school qualifies for Title I funding based on student participation in the free and reduced meal program

  • The school must reach a minimum of 47.2% student qualifications to receive this vital support

Requirements for a Title 1 School

• Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA): An evaluation process conducted by a school team to examine student achievement data, identify learning gaps, and pinpoint the root causes of academic challenges.

• Title 1 Schoolwide Plan: A strategic blueprint (often aligned with the school's Academic & Financial Plan) that details specific strategies, instructional goals, and programs designed to improve overall student performance and close achievement gaps.

• Fiscal Requirement Form: A financial document outlining the Title I budget allocation, ensuring funds are properly aligned with the needs identified in the CNA and the strategies in the Schoolwide Plan.

• Parent and Family Engagement Activities: School-hosted events, workshops, and opportunities (such as literacy nights or parent meetings) designed to actively involve families in their child’s learning and enhance academic success.

• Parent and Family Engagement Policy: A written agreement establishing how the school, staff, and parents will partner and communicate to support student learning and build strong home-school connections.

How Does Title I Benefit Our School?

• Additional Resources: Provides funding for Part-Time Teachers, Paraprofessional Educators, supplemental instructional materials, technology, and educational programs to support student learning.

• Professional Development: Offers opportunities for teachers and staff to engage in professional development to improve instructional practices.

• Parental Involvement: Encourages active parent participation through workshops, events, and resources aimed at supporting student achievement, including:

• Student Centered Meetings: Parent-Teacher Conferences

• Workshops and Training: Sessions designed to help parents support their child’s learning at home.

• Volunteering: Chaperoning field trips, other school volunteering opportunities before, during and after school.

• School Events: School activities and programs assisted by Title I to engage with the school community. (Spooktacular, Family Literacy Activities, End of the Year Family Activity, Grade Level Parent Days)

• Feedback and Planning: Committees or meetings where decisions about funding and programs are made. ( School Community Council and Parent Teacher Association)

• Staying informed and engaged: Communicating with your child's teacher, reading the parent bulletin, visiting the school website, asking your child about his/her day
