Our counseling team is here to support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development of all students. Our role is to ensure every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn each day. Services and supports we offer include:
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Classroom lessons and small group activities that help students build skills in self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship building, and responsible decision-making.
Emotional Regulation Support: Helping students learn healthy ways to manage strong emotions such as anger, frustration, anxiety, or sadness. This includes teaching coping strategies, mindfulness techniques, and problem-solving skills.
Individual Counseling: Short-term, solution-focused support for students dealing with a range of concerns, including friendship issues, school stress, grief, or changes at home.
Small Group Counseling: Group sessions that provide a safe space for students with similar experiences or needs to build connections and learn new strategies.
Attendance Support: Partnering with families to address attendance concerns and promote regular school participation as a key factor in student success.
Family Support: Collaborating with families to navigate challenges that may impact a student’s learning or well-being. This includes connecting families to community resources and offering strategies for support at home.
Crisis Intervention: Providing immediate support and care during times of crisis and coordinating with outside agencies when necessary.
We work closely with teachers, administrators, and families to ensure each child has the tools they need to thrive at school and beyond. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns, or to discuss how we can best support your child.
Balloon Breathing: Sit in a relaxed, comfortable position. Breathe in slowly through your nose, filling your belly with air like a balloon. Breathe out slowly. Have child practice this technique a few times.
Tips:
Start off at a duration of 1 minute and then build up to 3 minutes
Model the desired techniques to your child
Keep instructions short and simple
